The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia is beginning to subside. This is reflected in the decrease in the number of people infected with the coronavirus. This situation has led to a renewed surge in interest from foreign tourists visiting Indonesia.
Statistics Indonesia (BPS) released data showing that visits by foreign tourists (wisman) to Indonesia increased by 21.73%, reaching 151,030 visits in October 2021 compared to the previous month. However, compared to October 2020, foreign tourist visits decreased by 0.8% (year on year/yoy).
Cumulatively, from January to October 2021, foreign tourist visits to Indonesia only reached 1.33 million. This figure is a decrease of 64.37% (cumulative to cumulative/c-to-c).
In October, 95,520 foreign tourist visits (63.25% of the total) entered Indonesia via land borders. There were also 39,790 visits (26.34%) via seaports, and 15,720 visits (10.41%) via airports.
Cumulatively from January to October 2021, 859,510 foreign tourist visits (64.43%) were via land borders. There were also 375,020 visits (28.11%) via seaports, and only 99,550 visits (7.46%) via airports.
