The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded an average of 1.39 weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people in East Java, as of Monday, July 4, 2022. This figure is lower than the national average, which currently stands at 1.44 cases per 100,000 people per week.
Surabaya City ranks first with the highest number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases, at 13.93 per 100,000 people per week. The number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases in this city has not improved, showing an increase compared to the previous week, which recorded 11.54 cases per 100,000 people per week.
The same situation occurred in Malang City, which recorded 6.78 weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people. This city also saw a higher number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases compared to the previous week, which was only 3.73 per 100,000 people per week. Madiun City follows, recording 5.61 weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people.
Batu and Sidoarjo Cities follow, with recorded weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases of 3.76 and 2.42 per 100,000 people per week, respectively.
Nationally, the average number of weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 cases across the 34 provinces is currently on an upward trend compared to the previous week, which was only 1.26 cases per 100,000 people per week.
