Indonesia's Covid-19 Cases Rise 46% in the Past Week

Indonesia saw a 46% increase in Covid-19 cases over the past week. From May 11-17, 2021, 25,470 coronavirus cases were detected nationwide.

This number rose to 37,082 coronavirus cases from May 18-24, 2021. This week-on-week increase in coronavirus cases in Indonesia is the sixth largest in Asia.

India still holds the top spot in Asia, with a week-on-week increase of 1,719,526 coronavirus cases. However, this number is down 23% compared to the previous week, which saw 2,236,043 cases.

Iran and Turkey follow, with week-on-week increases of 78,039 and 66,462 coronavirus cases respectively. Nepal saw a week-on-week increase of 56,243 coronavirus cases. Meanwhile, Malaysia saw an increase of 44,044 coronavirus cases over the past seven days.

To prevent further coronavirus cases, the public is urged to diligently follow the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
