The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported that the national average bed occupancy rate (BOR) for COVID-19 was 17% as of Wednesday, February 2, 2022. This figure is 7 percentage points higher than the previous week's 10%.
The BOR of COVID-19 referral hospitals in DKI Jakarta continues to rise, reaching 58%, due to the widespread transmission of Omicron in the capital city. This percentage is the highest in the country.
The BOR percentage for COVID-19 hospitals in Jakarta is only slightly below the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 60%.
After Jakarta, Banten has the second-highest BOR for COVID-19 hospitals at 30%, followed by Bali at 26%. West Java and Yogyakarta follow with BORs of 22% and 11%, respectively.
The increase in hospital BORs coincides with a surge in coronavirus infection cases. Based on data from the COVID-19 Task Force, active coronavirus cases in Indonesia were recorded at 27,197 on Thursday, February 3, 2022.
Therefore, the public is urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. These health protocols are crucial for preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
