Recipients of the Free Nutritional Meal Program in Indonesia in Early 2026

According to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) report, as of January 20, 2026, the number of beneficiaries of the free nutritious meal program (MBG) reached 59.86 million people.

"We can already see the latest beneficiaries, totaling 59.86 million. Teachers are included here, as are educational staff," said Dadan Hindayana, Head of BGN, during a working meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives on Tuesday (January 20, 2026).

Currently, the majority of MBG beneficiaries are primary school students, totaling 19.46 million people.

Meanwhile, MBG beneficiaries in Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren) and religious schools are still relatively low.

"We still have to strive to increase the number of Islamic boarding schools and other religious schools where SPPG [Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units] need to be established immediately," said Dadan.

Below are the details of MBG beneficiaries as of January 20, 2026: 

1. Primary School (SD): 19.46 million people
2. Junior High School (SMP): 8.66 million people
3. Senior High School (SMA): 4.61 million people
4. Vocational High School (SMK): 4.39 million people
5. Toddlers/Under-fives: 4.27 million people
6. Islamic Primary School (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah): 3.47 million people
7. Kindergarten (TK): 2.87 million people
8. Islamic Junior High School (Madrasah Tsanawiyah): 2.62 million people
9. Teachers: 1.96 million people
10. Early Childhood Education (PAUD): 1.66 million people
11. Breastfeeding Mothers: 1.4 million people
12. Islamic Senior High School (Madrasah Aliyah): 1.25 million people
13. Islamic Kindergarten (Raudhatul Athfal): 901,195 people
14. Pregnant Women: 619,491 people
15. Islamic Boarding Schools (Pondok Pesantren): 534,661 people
16. Educational Staff: 394,878 people
17. Cadres: 145,244 people
18. Special Needs Schools (SLB): 107,458 people
19. Community Learning Activity Centers (PKBM): 71,989 people
20. Community Schools equivalent to Junior High School: 10,670 people
21. Community Schools equivalent to Primary School: 8,521 people
22. Community Schools equivalent to Senior High School: 8,272 people
