Confirmed Malaria Cases Concentrated in Papua until the End of November 2025

According to the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), from January to November 2025, or week 1 to week 47, there were over 400 thousand confirmed and reported malaria cases in Indonesia.

Kemenkes stated that the national trend of reported malaria cases showed an increase from week 15 to week 28. After that, it fluctuated until week 47.

"Malaria cases are still predominantly found in eastern Indonesian regions, such as Papua Island," Kemenkes revealed in its report.

Regionally, six provinces in the Land of Papua indeed rank among the top 10 with the highest number of cases.

The following are the 10 provinces with the highest number of confirmed malaria cases reported up to week 47 of 2025, according to Kemenkes data:

1. Papua: 160,491 cases
2. Central Papua: 130,623 cases
3. South Papua: 69,735 cases
4. Highland Papua: 20,247 cases
5. West Papua: 7,283 cases
6. North Sumatra: 6,500 cases
7. Southwest Papua: 5,584 cases
8. East Nusa Tenggara: 2,894 cases
9. Maluku: 2,459 cases
10. Riau: 2,184 cases

Meanwhile, there are eight provinces with no more than 100 confirmed malaria cases. These provinces include:

1. West Kalimantan: 93 cases
2. North Kalimantan: 54 cases
3. West Sumatra: 54 cases
4. Jambi: 43 cases
5. South Sumatra: 31 cases
6. Bali: 26 cases
7. Bangka Belitung Islands: 26 cases
8. Bengkulu: 6 cases
