The Indonesian government has set four targets in the tuberculosis (TB) eradication program by 2025.
These targets are stipulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 79 of 2025 concerning the Update of the Government Work Plan for 2025, which was enacted and promulgated on June 30, 2025.
The following are the 4 government targets in the TB eradication program in Indonesia by 2025:
- 95% of TB patients initiating treatment.
- TB treatment success rate reaching 90%.
- TB case detection coverage reaching 90%.
- Coverage of preventive therapy for household contacts reaching 72%.
The government stated that the TB eradication program was initiated because TB remains a major health challenge in Indonesia.
According to the World Health Organization's (WHO) Global TB Report 2024, Indonesia ranks second with the highest TB incidence in the world.
Therefore, the government stated its commitment to eradicate TB through various strategic policies and interventions to achieve the target of reducing TB incidence from 329 people per 100,000 population in 2025 to 190 people per 100,000 population by 2029.
“The main focus of TB eradication in 2025 is on massively increasing case detection, treatment access, and strengthening prevention efforts,” the government explained in Perpres 79.
