According to data from the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), 46 regions in Indonesia reported measles outbreaks (KLB) between January and August 24, 2025. These cases were spread across 42 districts/cities in 14 provinces.
"This means that confirmed measles cases are those where laboratory tests have positively identified measles antibodies in children suffering from the symptoms," said Kemenkes Director of Immunization Prima Yosephine in an online press conference on Tuesday (August 26, 2025).
In general, Kemenkes found 23,128 suspected measles cases. Of these, 20,710 children underwent laboratory testing, and 3,444 were confirmed positive for measles. The positivity rate was recorded at 16.6%.
Based on demographics, the region with the most measles outbreaks in Indonesia is North Sumatra, spread across 11 districts/cities.
