The top five, starting from the highest, are Sleman, Sidoarjo, Denpasar City, Cirebon City, and Garut, with weekly specimen counts of 996, 986, 959, 941, and 894, respectively.
Sleman ranks first, with 996 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 3.31 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Sidoarjo, which examined 986 specimens per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 1.43 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Specimen examinations in Denpasar City totaled 959 per week; Cirebon City (population 322,250) recorded 941; and Garut, 894.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, the national Covid-19 data recapitulation shows that 100 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported daily specimen examination numbers higher than before. Meanwhile, 102 other regencies/cities recorded lower specimen examination numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some regions with the highest number of specimens examined include Denpasar City, Kupang City, and Kutai Kartanegara, with 959, 826, and 818 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
