Top 10 Regencies/Cities with the Highest Number of Individuals Tested (Friday, September 23, 2022)

Based on national Covid-19 data, 148 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Friday, September 23, 2022, shows a national average of 0.5 tests per 1,000 people per week.

The top five, starting from the highest, are South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, Balikpapan, West Jakarta, and East Jakarta, with 5.26, 4.74, 4.36, 3.41, and 3.39 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.

South Jakarta ranks first, with 5.26 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is seven percent, down from the previous week.

Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. To combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 4.74 tests per 1,000 people per week were conducted. The positive rate is 8.66 percent, also down from the previous week.

Balikpapan recorded 4.36 tests per 1,000 people per week, West Jakarta 3.41, and East Jakarta 3.39.

In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 147 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. 154 others reported lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.

Outside Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.36 tests per 1,000 people per week), Badung (2.91), and Mimika (2.87).

Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
