According to *The Wealth Report 2025*, released in 2024 by Knight Frank, a global real estate consultancy firm, there were 2.34 million high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) worldwide. This represents a 4.4% increase from the previous year.
Knight Frank defines HNWIs as individuals with assets exceeding US$10 million, or over Rp167.9 billion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp16,790/US$).
In 2024, the United States had the largest population of HNWIs, with 905,413 individuals, accounting for 38.7% of the global total.
"Despite the global economic slowdown throughout 2024, the resilience of the US economy helped maintain investor confidence," wrote Knight Frank in its report.
The report states that the large number of HNWIs in the US was driven by growth in the financial markets, particularly Bitcoin.
China followed with 471,634 HNWIs (20.1%), and Japan with 122,119 (5.2%).

Based on Knight Frank's criteria, the number of HNWIs in Indonesia in 2024 reached 8,120. This represents 0.3% of the global total.
