GISAID reported that the number of Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 902 as of Wednesday, January 19, 2022. This represents a 25-case increase from the previous day. Weekly growth in Indonesia was 91.51 percent.
This number places Indonesia second in Southeast Asia. Singapore remains the country with the highest number of Omicron cases in the region, with 1,004 cases.
Thailand reported an 89.88 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily figures show a 27.89 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day.
Malaysia reported 463 Omicron cases (a 64.18% increase), Cambodia saw a 245.65 percent increase to 159 cases compared to the previous week, and the Philippines reported 43 Omicron cases (unchanged from the previous report).
GISAID's report also stated that it has detected a total of 451,720 Omicron variant Covid-19 cases worldwide. This is an increase from the previous week's total of 296,700 cases.
