According to a Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey, 69.7% of respondents believe that an opposition political party will emerge in the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration.
32.9% of respondents believe this opposition will come from a parliamentary party or one holding seats in the DPR (House of Representatives).
Furthermore, 25.3% of respondents believe the opposition party will emerge from within or outside the DPR, and 11.5% from outside parliament.
Meanwhile, 25.6% of respondents are not convinced there will be an opposition, and 4.7% said they did not know.
Litbang Kompas also found that the PDI-P (Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle) is considered the most likely party to become the opposition, with a proportion of 41.8%.
"The PDI-P's track record of serving as an opposition party outside the government for two periods during the presidency of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono may have influenced respondents who hope the party will play a similar role in the current administration," said the Litbang Kompas team in their report on Monday (March 10, 2025).
However, the PDI-P has not declared its intention to stand outside the government.
This survey involved 529 respondents from 38 provinces, randomly selected according to the population proportion in each province.
Data collection was conducted from February 10-13, 2025, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.22% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
