Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) conducted a survey on the reasons behind public rejection of government policies, regulations, and programs.
The results show that 20.9% of respondents believe the rejection stems from policies perceived as unfavorable to the common people.
Furthermore, 19.9% stated that the rejection is due to the government's perceived failure to conduct thorough data-based studies before enacting policies.
Other reasons for rejection include the government's hasty decision-making (16.7%), policies negatively impacting the public or placing an undue burden (12.9%), and lack of public participation (12.7%).
Additional reasons cited were policies deemed ineffective in solving problems and even creating new ones (10.3%), and insufficient program socialization (1.9%).
"The crisis of confidence in the government could worsen if there are no changes in how the government decides and communicates policies," stated the Litbang Kompas team in their report on Monday, March 3, 2025.
This survey involved 529 randomly selected respondents from 38 provinces, proportionate to the population of each province.
Data collection was conducted from February 10-13, 2025, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.22% with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
