According to a Kompas Research and Development (Litbang Kompas) survey, 50% of respondents cited social media as their primary source of information regarding government policies and programs.

Furthermore, 15.7% of respondents obtained this information from online media, and 14.7% from traditional mass media.

Other sources included neighborhood unit (RT/RW) representatives (12%), village/sub-district officials (7%), and immediate surroundings/neighbors/friends/acquaintances (0.3%).

The survey also revealed that a majority, or 68.8%, of respondents believed that new government policies had not been adequately socialized to the public, both directly and indirectly.

"The lack of policy socialization indicates that public policy communication has not been functioning properly," stated the Litbang Kompas team in their report on Monday, March 3, 2025.

The Litbang Kompas survey involved 529 respondents from 38 provinces, randomly selected according to the population proportion of each province.

Data collection was conducted from February 10-13, 2025, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 4.22%, with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
