The 2024 Indonesian Cybersecurity Landscape Report from the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) reveals that 56.12 million data points from 461 Indonesian institutions were exposed on the darknet in 2024.
Of this total, the largest sector was government administration, with 32.74 million data points from 141 institutions.
The BSSN added that this amount of government data constitutes 58.34% of the total Indonesian data exposed on the darknet.
The second largest sector was finance, with 2 million data points from 71 institutions, or 3.58% of the total.
Third was information and communication technology (ICT), with 1.53 million data points from 40 institutions, or 2.73%.
This was followed by the transportation, energy and mineral resources (ESDM), health, food, and defense sectors.
Other sectors comprised 16.92 million data points from 51 institutions, or 30.14% of the total.
For information, the darknet is an internet network that cannot be found using conventional search engines like Google. This "dark internet" can only be accessed through special software, using code or uncommon computer communication protocols.
Here is a breakdown of the data from several sectors in Indonesia exposed on the darknet in 2024:

* ICT: 1,530,780 data points, 40 institutions (2.73%)
* Transportation: 1,514,236 data points, 51 institutions (2.7%)
* ESDM: 1,052,765 data points, 47 institutions (1.88%)
* Health: 189,863 data points, 29 institutions (0.34%)
* Food: 106,055 data points, 21 institutions (0.19%)
* Defense: 61,389 data points, 10 institutions (0.11%)
* Others: 16,918,536 data points, 51 institutions (30.14%).
