A Jakpat report reveals several mental health conditions experienced by Indonesia's Generation Z over the past six months, based on a 2024 survey.
The most prevalent condition was mood swings, affecting 61% of Gen Z respondents. This was followed by sleep disturbances, experienced by 54%.
Impulse control problems affected 38% of respondents; this refers to the ability to resist the urge to perform certain actions.
Anxiety also featured prominently, affecting 37% of respondents.
Trauma was reported by 29% of Gen Z, followed by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at 24%.
Finally, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) was reported by 19% of respondents. This mental health disorder causes sufferers to experience obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
This survey on the mental health of Gen Z is detailed in the report *Gen Z Characteristics & Behaviors*. The survey targeted 1,155 Gen Z individuals born between 1997 and 2012. The gender distribution was even, with 50% male and 50% female respondents.
28% of respondents were located in and around Jakarta (Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta Barat, Jakarta Selatan, Jakarta Timur, Jakarta Utara, Bogor City, Depok City, Tangerang City, South Tangerang City, Bekasi City); 44% were located in Java (excluding Bogor City, Bekasi City, and Depok City in West Java; excluding Tangerang City and South Tangerang City in Banten; including East Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta); and 28% were located outside Java (Sumatra, Kalimantan, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua).
Data was collected from December 6-9, 2024, via the Jakpat mobile application, with a margin of error below 5%.
