The high number of COVID-19 infections in Boven Digoel compared to the previous week is due to a reported absence of recorded cases per 100,000 population per week in the preceding period.
Mimika is in second place, recording 45.99 weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 population. This week's confirmed COVID-19 cases are higher than the previous week, which reported no cases.
Rounding out the top five are Jayapura City, Merauke, and Mappi, recording 34.87, 31.93, and 29.09 weekly confirmed cases, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's data, the next five districts/cities in the top 10 are Jayapura, Nabire, Sarmi, and Jayawijaya. These regions recorded an average increase of over 16.09 cases per 100,000 population.
Positive news from the province is that seven districts/cities recorded no increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
