Kompas Research and Development (Litbang) conducted a public opinion poll on public trust in the government of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in handling various state issues.
The results show that 84.7% of respondents believe this new leadership duo can build a strong national defense, and 80.2% believe Prabowo-Gibran can enhance Indonesia's prestige on the world stage.
"Prabowo's military background, coupled with his most recent position as Minister of Defense, leads the public to view national defense with the highest degree of optimism," said the Kompas Litbang team in their report on Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Furthermore, 76.4% of respondents believe the new government can maintain political and national security stability; 74.5% believe it can uphold the law; and 74.1% believe the construction of the New Capital City (IKN) can be completed during the Prabowo-Gibran era.
"The continuation of IKN development represents public hope for the continuation of development programs from the previous administration," said the Kompas Litbang team.
The majority of respondents also believe the Prabowo-Gibran administration can handle other issues, such as boosting economic growth, increasing tax ratios, raising civil servant/ASN salaries, promoting downstreaming, achieving food self-sufficiency, and eradicating corruption.
However, one major program championed by Prabowo-Gibran during the campaign, namely free nutritious meals, received a relatively low level of public optimism, at only 54.8%.
This Kompas Litbang survey involved 1,200 respondents from 38 Indonesian provinces, selected randomly and proportionally.
Data collection was conducted from September 4-10, 2024, through telephone interviews. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.83%, with a 95% confidence level, under conditions of simple random sampling.
