Meanwhile, medical device distributors reached 4,176 units. Finally, there were 2,947 pharmaceutical wholesalers.

Kemenkes acknowledges that the production and distribution facilities for pharmaceuticals and medical devices in Indonesia are still unevenly distributed.
According to Kemenkes, the majority of production and distribution facilities are located on the islands of Sumatra and Java, accounting for 75.9%.
"This availability is related to the resources available and the needs of the local area," wrote Kemenkes in the report quoted on Tuesday (1/10/2024).
This condition, said Kemenkes, can be used as a reference in policies to develop the number of pharmaceutical and medical device production and distribution facilities in other regions of Indonesia, so that there is equitable distribution throughout Indonesia.
Furthermore, this aims to improve public access to healthcare facilities in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
Overall, the province with the highest number of production and distribution facilities is West Java. Kemenkes stated this is because West Java has a large population and a vast area.
