2024 Indonesian Hajj Pilgrimage Service Evaluation

A report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs shows that the Indonesian Hajj Pilgrim Satisfaction Index (IKJHI) score reached 88.20 points in the 2024 implementation. The BPS stated that this achievement falls into the "very satisfactory" category.

The main component of the index is service. By type, the Shalawat bus transportation received the highest score, at 91.61 points. This is a 1.7-point increase from 89.91 in 2023.

Second is intercity bus transportation at 91.11 points, a 1.21-point increase from 89.9 in 2023.

Third is hotels, with a score of 89.75, a slight increase of 0.86 points from 88.89 in 2023.

Hajj staff service also improved by 1.47 points, from 87.5 points in 2023 to 88.97 points in 2024.

Then there's consumption outside of Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina (Armuzna) at 88.75 in 2024, a 2.3-point increase from 86.45 in 2023.

There is also worship service and tent service. Tent service was the lowest in this list.

"All types of services have reached the 'very satisfactory' criteria, except for tent services and Armuzna consumption," wrote the BPS in its report, quoted on Tuesday (24/9/2024).

The index score collection method involved 14,400 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims, consisting of 6,400 people in the first wave and 8,000 people in the second wave.

Satisfaction assessment was divided into 7 points, including arrival at Madinah airport; arrival at Jeddah airport; Madinah wave I; Makkah pre-Armuzna (Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina); Armuzna; Makkah post-Armuzna, and Madinah wave II.

In addition to independent questionnaire completion, data collection methods also involved interviews and observations.

The types of services assessed in the IKJHI are Hajj staff service, worship service, bus transportation, accommodation (hotel or tent), consumption, and others.
