Henley & Partners has updated its list of countries with the world's strongest passports based on the Henley Passport Index in June 2024.
Singapore holds the top spot, with its passport granting visa-free access to 195 countries.
France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain follow, with passports offering visa-free access to 192 countries.
Henley & Partners Chairman, Christian Kaelin, stated that the average number of visa-free destinations for travelers has nearly doubled, from 58 countries in 2006 to 111 in 2024.
"However, the global mobility gap between those at the top and bottom of the index is now wider than ever," Kaelin said in a press release on Tuesday (July 23, 2024).
Indonesia's ranking? Indonesia is ranked 65th globally, with visa-free access to only 76 countries as of June 2024.
Visa-free access means passport holders do not need to apply for and pay for a visa before departure. It can be obtained on arrival or by using an electronic travel authorization (ETA).
The Henley Passport Index, published by Henley & Partners, is based on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The index covers 199 different passports from 227 travel destinations. The index report is updated in real time annually whenever new visa policy changes are issued.
