America Records the Highest Number of Omicron Cases Globally with 1.83 Million Cases

The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.86 million cases by Friday, October 21, 2022. The United States recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 1.15 percent. GISAID recorded 1.83 million Omicron cases in the US. Daily cases in this region increased by 0.03 percent compared to the previous day.

The United Kingdom follows in second place. Compared to the previous week, the number of Omicron cases in the UK grew by 0.34 percent. Daily figures show a 0.05 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, totaling 1.32 million cases.

Furthermore, the number of Omicron cases in Denmark increased by 1.26 percent to 307,020 compared to the previous week. In France, Omicron cases rose by 0.68 percent to 284,030 compared to the previous week, while Japan recorded 252,960 cases (a 2.59% increase).

As for Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 24,420 as of yesterday's data, a 0.25 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, the number of Omicron cases in Indonesia has continued to rise.
