Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 140 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average over the past week. Data as of Friday, January 20, 2023, shows a national average of 132.25 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Banyumas (970 people), Samarinda City (946 people), Kediri (899 people), Semarang (867 people), and Denpasar City (844 people).
Banyumas ranks first, with 970 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.82 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Samarinda City, with a population of 873,460. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 946 people were tested per week. The positive rate is 0.21 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Furthermore, Kediri recorded 899 tests per week, Semarang 867, and Denpasar City 844.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 151 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 181 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests per week include Samarinda City, Denpasar City, and Sikka, with 946, 844, and 834 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
