Specifically, DKI Jakarta received 19 Anugerah Kebudayaan awards in the cultural preservation category from 2004 to 2016, one award in 2018, and two awards in 2019. West Java follows in second place with 14 Anugerah Kebudayaan awards in the cultural preservation category: 8 awards from 2004 to 2016, two awards each in 2017 and 2019, and one award each in 2018 and 2020.
Central Java and Yogyakarta received a combined 11 Anugerah Kebudayaan awards in the cultural preservation category up to 2020. Central Java received 9 awards from 2004 to 2016 and 2 awards in 2018. Yogyakarta received 9 awards from 2004 to 2016, and one award each in 2019 and 2020.
According to the Kemendikbud's *Anugerah Kebudayaan Indonesia (AKI)*, the Indonesian Cultural Awards are an annual government award program in the field of culture, given by the Ministry of Education and Culture to individuals, groups, and/or institutions that have made significant contributions, achievements, and dedication to the advancement of culture.
