Jakarta's Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) Requires Caution

Data from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) indicates that air pollution in Jakarta Province is categorized as moderate according to the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU). The moderate category, ranging from 51-101, shows an air quality level that does not pose health effects on humans or animals, but does affect sensitive plants and aesthetic values.

Although categorized as moderate, this ISPU value requires vigilance because some areas are approaching or on the verge of the unhealthy category. Central Jakarta has a worrying ISPU value of 100. The next highest ISPU values are in East Jakarta (81) and North Jakarta (72). Meanwhile, West Jakarta (56) and South Jakarta (59) remain within safe limits.

KLHK operates several air quality monitoring stations in Jakarta. In East Jakarta, there's a station on Jalan Raya Pondok Gede; in North Jakarta, at the Kelapa Gading Sub-district Office; and in South Jakarta, at the Taman Pendidikan Dinas Pertamanan (Parks Department Education Park). In West Jakarta, there's a station at Taman Perumahan Kebon Jeruk (Kebon Jeruk Housing Park), while in Central Jakarta, there are several locations, including near the Bundaran HI Police Post.
