With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, currently 196 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Friday, April 22, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 188.01 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to the weekly target of each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Jayapura, Berau, Tarakan City, Bontang City, and Supiori, with percentages of 962.7 percent, 937.39 percent, 927.07 percent, 862.09 percent, and 819.05 percent, respectively.
Jayapura ranks first. With a population of 129,450, the weekly testing percentage is recorded at 962.7 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.25 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Berau. The population in this region is recorded at 236,590. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage is 937.39 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.13 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Then, Tarakan City recorded 927.07 percent testing, Bontang City 862.09 percent, and Supiori, with a population of 21,170, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 819.05 percent.
In anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 272 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 111 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Jayapura, Berau, and Tarakan City, with weekly testing percentages of 962.7 percent, 937.39 percent, and 927.07 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
