The Indonesian government reported 66 additional Covid-19 deaths today, Friday, October 8, 2021. These deaths were reported across 19 provinces. No additional deaths were reported in the remaining 15 provinces. With today's increase, the total number of Covid-19 deaths is 142,560.
Central Java and Papua recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths today, with 10 deaths each. Aceh reported 9 deaths, and East Java reported 7.
Other provinces with a high number of Covid-19 deaths include North Sumatra with 5 deaths, followed by Lampung and Central Sulawesi with 4 deaths each.
Three additional deaths were reported in East Kalimantan, and two deaths each were reported in Riau Islands and Bali.
The government also reported 1,384 new confirmed Covid-19 cases today. Jakarta recorded the highest number of new cases with 150, followed by Central Java and East Java with 119 cases each. With today's increase, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases throughout the pandemic is 4,225,871.
Meanwhile, 3,514 Covid-19 patients recovered today. North Kalimantan reported the highest number of recoveries with 1,110, followed by Aceh with 273 and Jakarta with 209. With today's increase, the total number of recovered Covid-19 patients is 4,057,760.
