The Indonesian government has mandated a COVID-19 booster vaccination as a requirement for the upcoming 2022 Eid al-Fitr homecoming (mudik). Booster vaccination status will be checked via the PeduliLindungi application.
According to the Ministry of Health's data, as of 6 PM on March 24, 2022, only 18,273,009 doses of the COVID-19 booster vaccine had been administered in Indonesia. This represents only 8.77% coverage of the 208,265,720 target population.
The majority of booster vaccinations (12,377,423 doses) were given to the general and vulnerable populations, representing 8.77% of the 141,211,181 target.
Booster vaccinations for the elderly reached 2,029,748 doses, approximately 9.42% of the 21,553,118 target.
Health workers received 1,448,650 booster doses, equivalent to 98.63% of the 1,468,764 target. The 12-17 age group received 124,609 doses (0.47% of the 26,705,490 target).
The community empowerment group received 72,188 booster doses (0.48% of the target), while the 6-11 age group received 1,249 doses (0% of the 26,400,300 target).
According to the Ministry of Health's report, booster vaccinations have not yet been administered to public officials and educators.
Booster vaccinations are strongly recommended for the general public, especially the elderly and vulnerable groups, to reduce the severity of infection and death from COVID-19.
