The implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali from July 3rd to 20th, 2021, successfully suppressed the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus in Jakarta. This is evident in the decrease in daily new cases over the past week.
Previously, the highest number of new coronavirus cases was recorded on July 8th, 2021, at 14,620 people. After that, the daily increase in coronavirus cases steadily declined.
The Ministry of Health recorded 6,213 new coronavirus cases in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 21st, 2021. This figure is lower than the 9,399 cases recorded on July 2nd, 2021, before the Emergency PPKM.
However, yesterday's increase in coronavirus cases in Jakarta was still the second highest after West Java, which recorded 6,928 cases. East Java was third with 5,654 new coronavirus cases.
In total, Jakarta still has the highest number of coronavirus cases nationally, at 757,520 people. Of that number, 94,420 people are still undergoing treatment.
The number of recovered coronavirus patients in the capital city is recorded at 52,410 people. The highest record of recovered patients was on July 11th, 2021, with 20,600 people.
Regarding the number of deaths from coronavirus, the daily figures in Jakarta are still quite high. In fact, the number of coronavirus deaths in Jakarta has doubled in the last week. In total, the number of deaths from Covid-19 in Jakarta has reached 10,680 people.
To curb the spread of the coronavirus, the public is urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is encouraged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
