National COVID-19 Cases: 25% Originate from Jakarta

DKI Jakarta has become the epicenter of COVID-19 transmission in Indonesia. The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has re-implemented Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) since Monday, September 14th. This PSBB is in response to the increasing rate of COVID-19 transmission, accompanied by a rise in hospital occupancy rates in Jakarta.

As of last Monday, at least 55,926 COVID-19 cases originated from DKI Jakarta. This figure represents 25.2% of the national total. Meanwhile, 12,161 people are still undergoing treatment or self-isolation.

The COVID-19 Task Force supports the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's policy. This is because the PSBB process in Jakarta has followed pre-condition procedures, including determining the timing of implementation, prioritizing sectors, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.
