COVID-19 death cases in Indonesia continue to rise. As of Sunday, September 18, 2022, the national total reached 157,892 cases, an increase of 8 cases from the previous day.
Spatially, Central Java recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in Indonesia, with 33,402 cases, or 21.15% of the national total.
East Java ranks second with 31,776 COVID-19 deaths, equivalent to 20.12% of Indonesia's total COVID-19 deaths.
West Java is in third place with 15,947 COVID-19 deaths. This is followed by Jakarta with 15,550 COVID-19 deaths.
Next, Yogyakarta and East Kalimantan have 5,932 and 5,728 COVID-19 deaths respectively. This is followed by Bali, Riau, Lampung, and South Sumatra, with details as shown in the graph.
Meanwhile, the lowest number of COVID-19 deaths was recorded in Maluku, at 294 cases. The total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indonesia reached 6,408,806 as of September 18, 2022.
COVID-19 deaths should be a concern, especially for the elderly and those with comorbidities. Therefore, the public needs to strictly adhere to health protocols and receive booster vaccinations to reduce the severity of infection and the risk of fatal outcomes from COVID-19.
