Based on national Covid-19 data, 150 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests above the national average. Data as of Wednesday, December 7, 2022, shows a national average of 0.64 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1000 people per week, are: South Jakarta (7 people), Central Jakarta (6.74 people), Balikpapan (5.58 people), East Jakarta (4.94 people), and South Tangerang (4.64 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with seven tests per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 11.96 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 6.74 people per 1000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 12.58 percent, also down from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in Balikpapan recorded 5.58 people per 1000 people per week; East Jakarta, 4.94 people per 1000; and South Tangerang, 4.64 people per 1000.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 162 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. 167 other regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (5.58 people), Badung (3.63 people), and West Lampung (3.21 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
