Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 87 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. As of December 18, 2022, the national average testing rate was recorded at 19.52 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Balikpapan City (488.51%), Gunungsitoli City (332.65%), Purwakarta (240.46%), Kutai Kartanegara (238.43%), and Jayapura City (233.77%).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 646,020, the weekly percentage of people tested is recorded at 488.51 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.35 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Gunungsitoli City. The population of this region is recorded at 147,940. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 332.65 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.2 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Then, Purwakarta, with a population of 960,820, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 240.46 percent; Kutai Kartanegara, with a population of 792,740, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 238.43 percent; and Jayapura City recorded a weekly testing percentage of 233.77 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 55 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher weekly testing percentage than before. Meanwhile, 75 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly testing percentage compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentage ratios include Balikpapan City, Gunungsitoli City, and Kutai Kartanegara, with weekly testing percentages of 488.51 percent, 332.65 percent, and 238.43 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
