Having health insurance is crucial. Health insurance provides benefits for unforeseen medical treatment.
A survey by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) shows that the majority of young Indonesians invest in healthcare through BPJS [Indonesia's national health insurance program]. The percentage reaches 71.2%.
However, 28.3% of respondents stated they do not have health insurance through BPJS.
Meanwhile, only 5.8% of respondents said they invest in private health insurance. The remaining 94.2% of respondents stated they do not have insurance in this sector.
This survey also shows that the majority of young people believe that healthcare investment is entirely the responsibility of the state through national health insurance. This percentage is 85.2%. However, 56.8% of respondents believe that healthcare investment is a personal responsibility.
This survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,192 respondents across 34 Indonesian provinces from August 8-13, 2022. The respondent population was aged 17-39 years at the time of the survey.
Respondent sampling was conducted using multistage random sampling with a margin of error of approximately 2.84% at a 95% confidence level.
