The top five cities with the highest number of specimens examined per week are Bengkulu City (999 specimens), Manokwari (981 specimens), Sukoharjo (972 specimens), Mojokerto (887 specimens), and Bontang City (885 specimens).
Bengkulu City ranks first. With a population of 378,810, the number of specimens examined is 999 per week. The latest positive rate is 0.25 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week.
Next is Manokwari. The population of this region is 176,240. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 981 specimens are examined per week. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0 percent, a decrease compared to the previous week.
Furthermore, the number of specimens examined in Sukoharjo is 972 per week, Mojokerto recorded 887 specimens per week, and Bontang City, with a population of 185,460, recorded 885 specimens examined per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, there are 178 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 148 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Bengkulu City, Manokwari, and Bontang City, with 999, 981, and 885 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
