Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 140 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests exceeding the national average in the last week. Data from the week of January 22, 2023, shows a national average of 127.93 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Makassar City (977 people), Banyumas (953 people), Karawang (952 people), Samarinda City (911 people), and West Bandung (849 people).
Makassar City ranks first, with 977 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.51 percent, lower than the previous week's percentage.
Next is Banyumas, where 953 people were tested per week in efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 0.94 percent, higher than the previous week's percentage.
Furthermore, Karawang recorded 952 tests per week, Samarinda City 911, and West Bandung 849.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 83 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 223 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests per week include Makassar City, Samarinda City, and Denpasar City, with 977, 911, and 799 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
