The results of a survey by Indikator Politik Indonesia show that the Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) is considered the most responsible party for the acute kidney failure cases in children.
“We asked who is most responsible (for the acute kidney failure cases)? The results show that BPOM received the most responses, at 38.9%,” said Burhanudin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, in a press conference on Sunday (27/11).
The next most responsible party for the acute kidney failure cases in children, according to the survey, is the Ministry of Health, with 31.4% of respondents pointing to them. “Then, 19% blamed pharmaceutical companies, and 2.8% pointed to President Jokowi as most responsible,” said Burhanudin.
Meanwhile, 0.2% of respondents answered “other,” and 7.7% chose “don’t know/didn’t answer.”
Burhanudin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia (IPI), stated that the acute kidney failure issue is one of the most popular issues among the public, according to the results of his institution's survey. The survey shows that 74.6% of respondents said they knew about the case, while 25.4% did not.
"Mr. Jokowi, don't take this issue (acute kidney failure) lightly. This is a popular issue after the Ferdy Sambo case; almost 75% of the public knows about it," said Burhanuddin.
This survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,220 people aged 17 years or older, or who were married, between October 30 and November 5, 2022. Sample selection was conducted using a multistage random sampling method, with a margin of error of approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
