PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) announced that as of Tuesday, August 30, 2022, all long-distance train passengers (KAJJ) are required to have received a booster vaccine (third dose).
Previously, passengers who had not received a booster vaccine were still allowed to travel by providing a negative RT-PCR result. However, this is no longer valid starting today.
With this new regulation, PT KAI is providing free vaccination services at several stations and KAI clinics. This is to assist customers in fulfilling the requirements according to the Ministry of Transportation Circular Letter Number 84 of 2022, effective August 30, 2022.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, as of 6 PM WIB on August 29, 2022, approximately 60.36 million booster doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered to the public. This is equivalent to 25.73% of the total vaccination target of 208.26 million people.
The vulnerable and general population groups are recorded as having received the most third doses, totaling 41.73 million. Booster vaccinations for public service personnel totaled 8.65 million doses.
Furthermore, 6.37 million booster vaccine doses were administered to the elderly, and 1.7 million doses to health workers. Subsequently, 1.08 million booster vaccine doses were given to the 12-17 age group and 1,500 doses to children.
Booster vaccinations are important because they can increase immunity up to twice as much compared to the second dose. Boosters can protect the elderly and vulnerable groups/those with comorbidities from Covid-19 infection.
