Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 169 regencies/cities aggressively conducted suspect screening, with a weekly percentage exceeding the national average. As of Thursday, December 1, 2022, the national average for suspect screening was recorded at 13.6 percent. This suspect screening data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the number of people examined in each region, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest weekly percentage of suspect screening, are Simalungun (91.52%), Mandailing Natal (80.68%), Pangandaran (79.53%), Boven Digoel (78.95%), and Tidore Islands City (78.57%).
Simalungun ranks first. With a population of 877,710, the weekly percentage of suspect screening is recorded at 91.52 percent. The latest positive rate is 13.39 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Mandailing Natal. The population of this region is recorded at 460,360. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of suspect screening is 80.68 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 0.76 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Pangandaran recorded 79.53 percent for weekly suspect screening; Boven Digoel recorded 78.95 percent; and Tidore Islands City recorded 78.57 percent.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, there are 166 regencies/cities in Indonesia that actively report a higher daily weekly percentage of suspect screening than before. Meanwhile, 199 other regencies/cities recorded a lower weekly percentage of suspect screening compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly percentage of suspect screening include Simalungun, Mandailing Natal, and Boven Digoel, with weekly suspect screening percentages of 91.52 percent, 80.68 percent, and 78.95 percent, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue to reduce Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the rate of coronavirus transmission.
