The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.37 million cases by Friday, July 1, 2022. The United States recorded the highest number of Omicron cases, with weekly growth reaching 4.18 percent. GISAID recorded 1.26 million Omicron cases in the US. Daily cases in this region increased by 1.98 percent compared to the previous day.
The United Kingdom follows with a weekly growth in Omicron cases of 0.91 percent. Daily figures show a 0.23 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day, totaling 1.21 million cases.
Furthermore, the number of Omicron cases in Germany increased by 1.25 percent to 331,220 cases compared to the previous week. Omicron cases in Denmark rose by 2.12 percent to 249,710 cases, and in France, they increased by 3.14 percent to 145,040 cases compared to the previous week.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases reached 12,664 as of yesterday, a 0.13 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since its initial monitoring, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
