The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in Central Java currently occurred in Surakarta city, with 19.24 cases per 100,000 population per week as of Sunday, August 21, 2022. This figure is eight cases higher than the second-highest region.
The COVID-19 transmission situation in Surakarta city appears to be not improving. This is indicated by the number of cases this week, which is still higher than the previous week's figure of 17.51 cases per 100,000 population per week.
Tegal city is in second place, recording a weekly confirmation rate of 11.19 cases per 100,000 population. Compared to the previous week's 16.39 cases, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is lower.
Rounding out the top five, besides the two regions above, are Semarang city, Magelang city, and Salatiga city. They recorded weekly confirmations of 10.55 cases, nine cases, and seven cases, respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five regencies/cities in the top 10 are Sukoharjo, Klaten, Karanganyar, and Banyumas. These areas recorded an average increase of more than two cases per 100,000 population.
Other information from today's daily COVID-19 data statistics shows that 171 regencies/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to the previous week, and 208 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly confirmations than the previous week.
Furthermore, 138 regencies/cities in Indonesia currently report no confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
