The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) have agreed on an average Hajj Pilgrimage Cost (BPIH) of Rp93.41 million for 2024 M/1445 H.
This amount is lower than the Ministry of Religious Affairs' initial proposal of Rp105 million.
The 2024 BPIH consists of the Hajj Pilgrimage Trip Cost (Bipih), or the cost borne by pilgrims, amounting to Rp56.05 million per person (60% of the total BPIH).
Then, there is the benefit value or government subsidy of Rp37.36 million per person (40% of the total BPIH).
Overall, the total benefit value for the 2024 M/1445 H Hajj pilgrimage is Rp8.2 trillion.
Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII, Abdul Wachid, explained that these costs will be used for flight tickets, accommodation in Mecca and Medina, living expenses, and visa fees.
"Regarding the Bipih payment, it will be paid by pilgrims after deducting the initial deposit and the balance of each pilgrim's virtual account," said Abdul in a working meeting with the Minister of Religious Affairs at the DPR Building on Monday (27/11/2023).
This agreement will serve as the basis for the Indonesian President to determine the BPIH.
Based on Article 48 of Law Number 8 of 2019 concerning the Organization of Hajj and Umrah Pilgrimages, the BPIH amount is determined by the President upon the proposal of the Minister of Religious Affairs after obtaining the approval of the DPR RI.
