This morning, Tangerang Selatan has the worst air quality in the Jabodetabek area, according to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK)'s Air Pollutant Standard Index (ISPU) data. Tangerang Selatan's air quality index was recorded at 118 on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 8:00 AM WIB.
East Jakarta follows with an air quality index of 117, and Central Jakarta is third with a score of 94.
For reference, KLHK categorizes air quality based on the following ISPU ranges:
* 0-50: Good
* 51-100: Moderate
* 101-200: Unhealthy
* 201-300: Very Unhealthy
* 300+: Hazardous
Air quality index (ISPU) is monitored at 72 stations spread across 31 provinces. The air quality index calculation uses measurements of air pollutant parameters, including particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), and hydrocarbons (HC).
This indicates that cities in Jabodetabek, such as Tangerang Selatan and East Jakarta, have unhealthy air quality.
KLHK advises that individuals in areas with unhealthy air quality should reduce prolonged outdoor physical activity. In areas with moderate air quality, everyone can still engage in outdoor activities except for sensitive groups.
Those living in areas with very unhealthy and hazardous air quality should avoid all outdoor activities.
