Today's COVID-19 Provincial Data Update: West Java Reports the Highest Increase (Friday, April 1, 2022)

Indonesia today recorded an additional 2,930 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic to 6.02 million as of Friday, April 1, 2022. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, Banten, and East Java.

Here is the breakdown of the highest Covid-19 case increases by province today

1. West Java recorded an additional 649 cases

West Java ranks first. The increase in cases here was 649, or a 0.06 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 1.1 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in West Java is now 1.1 million.

In addition to the highest number of new cases, West Java also recorded 10 deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths in West Java during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 15,635.

The trend of case development in this region over the past week has decreased. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week.

Similarly, the positive rate in this region is lower than before. According to the Ministry of Health, the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is recorded at 12 percent.

2. DKI Jakarta recorded an additional 641 cases

DKI Jakarta ranks second. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 641. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 4.4 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Covid-19 tests in this province is recorded at 102,015 per week.
3. Central Java recorded an additional 281 cases

Central Java ranks third. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 281. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 3.47 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Covid-19 tests in this province is recorded at 75,077 per week.
4. Banten recorded an additional 264 cases

Banten ranks fourth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 264. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 4.6 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Covid-19 tests in this province is recorded at 42,56 per week.
5. East Java recorded an additional 177 cases

East Java ranks fifth. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 177. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 2.54 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Covid-19 tests in this province is recorded at 70,53 per week.
6. DI Yogyakarta recorded an additional 144 cases

Next is DI Yogyakarta. The increase in cases here was 144, or a 0.07 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 219,570. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 219,710.

Today, four deaths were also reported in DI Yogyakarta. Thus, the total number of deaths in DI Yogyakarta during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 5,822. The seven-day positive rate in DI Yogyakarta is 7.57 percent, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 18 percent.

7. West Kalimantan recorded an additional 84 cases

The seventh highest increase in cases was in West Kalimantan. In this province, the increase in cases today was 84, or a 0.13 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 63,984. The trend of case development in this region over the past week has decreased. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Similarly, the positive rate in this region is lower than before. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is recorded at 15 percent.
8. East Nusa Tenggara recorded an additional 82 cases

Next is East Nusa Tenggara. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 82. The seven-day positive rate in this region is recorded at 12.7 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Covid-19 tests in this province is recorded at 8.48 per week.
9. Central Sulawesi recorded an additional 65 cases

The ninth highest increase in cases was in Central Sulawesi. In this province, the increase in cases today was 65, or a 0.11 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 60,429.

Today, one death was also reported in Central Sulawesi. Thus, the total number of deaths in Central Sulawesi during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 1,709. The seven-day positive rate in Central Sulawesi is 12.47 percent, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 17 percent.

10. East Kalimantan recorded an additional 64 cases

The tenth highest increase in cases was in East Kalimantan. In this province, the increase in cases today was 64, or a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 205,750.

In addition, six deaths were also reported in East Kalimantan. Thus, the total number of deaths in East Kalimantan during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 5,687.
