The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported 304 cases of Atypical Progressive Acute Kidney Injury (GGAPA) throughout Indonesia as of October 31, 2022.
The majority of GGAPA patients were in the 1-5 year age group, reaching 173 cases. There were 46 cases in the 0-1 year age group, 43 cases in the 6-10 year age group, and 42 cases in the 11-18 year age group.
Kemenkes spokesperson Muhammad Syahril reported that as of October 31, 2022, 99 patients (33%) had recovered. This figure is an increase compared to the previous week, where only 39 patients had recovered on October 26, 2022.
"There has been an increase this week from 20% to 33% of patients declared recovered," said Syahril, as reported by the Sehat Negeriku website on Tuesday (1/11/2022).
Meanwhile, 65 patients are still undergoing treatment, and 153 patients have died. Therefore, the mortality rate for GGAPA cases is 51%.
Kemenkes stated that it continues to strive to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates due to GGAPA, including by importing hundreds of vials of the antidote Fomepizole from Singapore, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
"146 vials have been distributed to 17 hospitals in 11 provinces, while 100 vials are stored as stock in the central pharmacy facility," said Syahril.
