The Yogyakarta Special Region currently has the highest percentage of healthcare workers dedicated to treating COVID-19 patients. This is calculated by comparing the number of healthcare workers in designated hospitals to the total number of available healthcare workers.
According to the Ministry of Health's data, Yogyakarta ranks first among the 34 provinces, with a percentage of 72.7%. This province, famous for its gudeg (a traditional dish), recorded 336 weekly COVID-19 cases. It has a total of 11,000 healthcare workers.
Riau Islands ranks second with a percentage of 51%. With a positive confirmation rate of 193 cases per 100,000 population, this region has 4,000 healthcare workers.
Bangka Belitung is in third place. With 215 weekly cases per 100,000 population, this province has 3,000 healthcare workers.
Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta, which currently has the highest transmission rate per 100,000 population at 409 cases, ranks 18th. This province, also the nation's capital, reports that 22% of its healthcare workers are dedicated to COVID-19, totaling 12,000 healthcare workers.
In terms of sheer numbers, East Java has the highest number of healthcare workers dedicated to treating COVID-19 patients. The province currently has 34,000 healthcare workers out of a total of 108,000. However, in terms of percentage of total healthcare workers, it ranks ninth.
