Average Schooling Duration of Buton Residents Still Below National Average

The average schooling duration (ASD) of residents aged 25 and over in Buton, Southeast Sulawesi reached 8.69 years in 2025.

Quoting data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the ASD of residents in this region was below the Southeast Sulawesi provincial average of 9.56 years in 2025.

Buton's resident ASD increased by 0.06 years (0.7%) compared to the previous year's 8.63 years. Meanwhile, over the last five years, this ASD has risen by 0.98 years (12.71%).

This ASD indicates that the average Buton resident only attended school up to the 8th grade level. However, this ASD is still below the national average ASD of 9.07 years in 2025.

When compared to the other 16 regencies/cities in Southeast Sulawesi Province, Buton's ASD ranks 11th. The other region in the province with the highest ASD is Kendari City (12.56 years), while the lowest ASD is Central Buton Regency (7.37 years).
