According to a report by the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), the average bed occupancy rate (BOR) in national Covid-19 referral hospitals was 33% as of Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
This figure is higher than the previous week's national Covid-19 hospital BOR of 28%.
The Covid-19 hospital BOR in Jakarta also increased to 50%, the highest in the country.
Although quite high, the Covid-19 hospital BOR percentage in Jakarta is still below the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) of 60%.
After Jakarta, Banten had the second-highest Covid-19 hospital BOR at 48%, followed by West Java at 47%. Bali and South Sumatra followed with BORs of 46% and 37%, respectively.
The increase in the national Covid-19 hospital BOR coincides with the rising trend of Omicron variant coronavirus infections. According to data from the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, there were 46,718 active coronavirus cases in Indonesia on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
The public continues to be urged to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. These health protocols are crucial for preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
