Pakistan Tourists Have the Longest Visit Duration in Indonesia: How About Other Countries?

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the average length of stay for foreign tourists in Indonesia was 13.62 days in 2020. This figure increased by 4.75 days from the previous year, which was 8.87 days.

Looking at the tourists' countries of origin, the average length of stay for tourists from Pakistan was the longest, reaching 28.4 days in 2020. After Pakistan, the average length of stay for Chinese tourists was the second longest at 27.03 days, followed by Russia at 24.89 days. The average length of stay for tourists from Italy and Switzerland was the same, at 21.33 days.

Meanwhile, the shortest average length of stay was for tourists from Hong Kong, at 2.66 days. The average length of stay for tourists from Malaysia was also short, at 2.96 days, and from Singapore at 3.82 days.

The average expenditure per foreign tourist visit was US$ 2,165.02 in 2020, an increase of 88.98% from the previous year's US$ 1,145.64. The average daily expenditure per foreign tourist was US$ 158.95, a 23.02% increase from the previous year's US$ 129.21.

In 2020, the majority of foreign tourist spending in Indonesia was on accommodation, accounting for 40.35% of total expenditure, followed by food and beverages at 27.54%.
